SUPPORTING FUTURE GENERATIONS
The “Plus 2′′ Scholarship Program
In Nepal, up until recently public schools only provided classes till the tenth grade. After the completion of 10th grade, all students have to pass the “School Leaving Certificate” (SLC) exam in order to graduate. For those who want to, or rather can afford further education, they can pursue 11th and 12th grade in private schools. For children in the villages, particularly in remote mountainous regions, it either students must find funding to pay for a private school in the city or means education stops at the 10th grade. The Greater Himalayas Plus Two Program sponsors students from remote Himalayan communities who are interested in pursuing the 11th and 12th grade in any field of studies. Priorities will be given to students with financial needs and from rural mountainous regions.
